  2. Tap the image icon to select a screenshot from your photo library
  3. The app will automatically recognize text from the image
  4. Tap the play button (▶️) to hear the text read aloud
  5. Use pause/resume and stop controls as needed
  6. Tap the gear icon (⚙️) to customize voice settings

Frequently Asked Questions

Does OutLowd send my photos to a server?

No. All image processing happens on your device using Apple's Vision framework. Your photos never leave your device.

Does OutLowd save my photos or text?

No. Photos and recognized text are only kept in memory while you're using the app and are discarded when you close it or select a new image.

Can OutLowd work offline?

Yes. OutLowd works completely offline and never requires an internet connection.

What languages does OutLowd support?

OutLowd automatically detects the language in your screenshots and can read text in multiple languages. The available voices depend on your iOS language settings.

How do I change the voice or speech speed?

Tap the gear icon (⚙️) in the top right corner to access settings where you can adjust speech rate, pitch, volume, and select different voices.

Can I use OutLowd while doing other things?

Yes! OutLowd supports background audio playback. Start playing, then press the home button or switch to another app. The audio will continue playing. You can also control playback from the lock screen.

Why does OutLowd need photo library access?

OutLowd needs access to your photo library only to let you select screenshots for text recognition. The app cannot access your photos without your explicit permission for each image.

Is OutLowd safe for children?

Yes. Since no data is collected, the app is completely safe for users of all ages.

What types of images work best?

OutLowd works best with clear screenshots containing readable text. For best results:
